Ecological principles of Ayurveda Shunyata Villa
Ecological principles and environmental protection in Sri Lanka are very important and self-evident for us at Ayurveda Shunyata Villa.
- Our Ayurveda cuisine only uses fresh, high-quality ingredients without any additives, and as far as possible from certified organic farming and from small farmers in our area who we know do not use artificial fertilisers or chemical sprays. As far as possible, we use gas for cooking and baking in the Ayurveda Shunyata Villa kitchen, as electricity is still a scarce and precious commodity in Sri Lanka.
- We obtain the hot water from our own well.
- Solar systems heat the water.
- We produce our own energized mineral water and thus also avoid unnecessary transportation of drinking water gallons.
- All cleaning and laundry detergents are biodegradable
- Now that gas-powered tumble dryers are available in Sri Lanka, we will replace the electric tumble dryers in our laundry. In our laundry, too, the resulting water is treated in a special organic purification system.
- Our waste water is treated in an underground 3-chamber treatment system and then transported away by a responsible company. They don't flow into the sea.
- We mainly use LED and energy-saving lamps for lighting and were able to reduce our energy consumption by 90%.
- We are a CSR through and through (corporate social responsibility) companies.
