Why warm water during an Ayurveda treatment?

Warm water promotes well-being and optimally supports the Ayurveda treatment. Drink 2-3 liters of boiled water daily.

Why warm water during an Ayurveda treatment?

Basically, water, in particular warm water, is considered one of the most important foundations for health and well-being in Ayurveda. Adequate hydration supports the entire organism, as every cell and organ depends on water to function optimally. Electrolyte balance as well as metabolic and digestive processes also benefit from regular drinking.

However, many people find it difficult to drink enough water. Warm, boiled water is often considered more pleasant because it tastes softer and milder than cold water. It is also considered particularly digestible for the stomach and intestines and can gently support digestion.

Warm water is traditionally highly valued in Ayurveda. The ancient Indian healers, the Rishis, assumed that water changes in quality as a result of prolonged simmering and can therefore be absorbed more easily by the body. That is why warm water also plays an important role in Panchakarma treatment to accompany the body and support metabolic processes.

It is recommended to drink about 2-3 liters of pure water a day. Ideally, the water should be gently simmered for about 15 minutes and then kept warm in a thermos. It is drunk in sips as warm to hot as possible throughout the day. If you want a change of taste, you can refine the water with a little ginger or lemon juice, for example.

For people with a pronounced pitta type, the water does not necessarily have to be very hot; warm or slightly cooled water can also be felt as pleasant and soothing here.

The 4 pillars of health

Harmony is the foundation of our health. Balanced attention to the four areas of life, the 4 pillars of health, helps to sustainably integrate Ayurveda into everyday life after the retreat.
