What is the cause of illness?

According to Ayurveda, all illnesses arise from the imbalance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). Healing requires the balance of body fluids.

What is the cause of illness?
“May noble thoughts come to us from all sides.”

(Rig Vida)

Ayurveda teaching assumes that all illnesses have an origin in the imbalance of the three body fluids (Vata, Pitta and Kapha).

The doshas play a role in both physical and mental illnesses. The aim of Ayurveda is to balance body fluids in order to neutralize the disease process. This is not about finding out which disease-causing factors make you ill. From an Ayurvedic point of view, this is only of secondary importance. If you only treat the external triggers of the disease, only the symptoms, the actual cause of the disease is not considered.

The current way of thinking of people, or even of modern medicine, assumes that “disease-causing” comes from outside. As a result, “healing” must also come from outside.

This thinking, often true for bacteria and viruses, was also transferred to general living conditions, social conditions, social ties, and more. As a result, the patient was given a passive role and understanding in the course of illness.

If everything that causes illness to humans comes from outside, then under these conditions it is logical that all healing can also be expected from outside. Medical research has therefore devoted great effort to the so-called risk factors, which can have disease-causing effects on humans to this day. Up to the present day, medical science is mainly concerned with the question, “What makes you sick?”

cause of the disease

And yet there are finally more and more scientists who are increasingly asking themselves the question, “Why does a person stay healthy?” , “What internal forces can a person mobilize to keep themselves healthy?”

This is all a very interesting thing. During a flu epidemic, for example, no one is surprised that many people suddenly fall ill. But the question is: “Why do certain people always stay healthy despite the same health-threatening influences to which they are also exposed?”

As we delve deeper into the origins of diseases, a fundamental approach emerges more and more:

“Every illness is caused by an interruption in the flow of intelligence...”

But what does that mean? What does our intelligence, knowledge, intellect have to do with the development of diseases?

However, this is not just about intelligence in the head. This is primarily about the intelligence of our tissues, the central nervous system, enzymes, genes, antibodies, hormones, etc. They all have intelligence. What influences them? Who is responsible for ensuring that everything in our body functions intelligently?

Should we ourselves be responsible for this?

Does our mind have the power to act on our cells and to influence them incorrectly or correctly?

YES! All disease processes start in the realm of the mind! But health too!

Predominant thoughts of satisfaction and happiness cause biochemical changes in the brain, which in turn have profound beneficial effects on physiology. Thoughts of love and compassion, of affection, warmth and familiarity nourish our cells and central nervous system with beneficial intelligence. Positive thoughts make everything in us flow.

Sad, depressed, or negative thoughts produce the exact opposite. They have a harmful effect on physiology. Angry and hostile thoughts cause, among other things, an acceleration of the heartbeat and an increase in blood pressure. Causes of anxiety cause us stomach pain, cold sweat gets on our foreheads, we are paralyzed with fear.

The factor of fear is of enormous importance in today's civilization. Anxiety is reflected everywhere. People are afraid of everything. Fear of the new, the unknown, fear of the old, fear of illness, fear of death, fear of life, fear of oneself, etc. This list can be continued indefinitely.

Fear is a doubt about trust

But what do we all who live here on this planet need? TRUST! — Trust in ourselves, trust in others, in life itself.

Since thoughts are subject to our conscious control, we can certainly influence the chemistry of our mind. This includes learning the”mindfulness“and the”Consciousness“Of great importance in meditation, for example.

Health or illness always results from the sum of the impulses that arise from our consciousness, both negative and positive. When we really try to internalize this, we realize how important it is to think the 'right' thoughts or to give the 'right' impulses.

So, let's try to think of happy or at least peaceful thoughts as often as possible, and pass on this noticeable happiness to the people around us, because...

“The best things in life are the people we love...
the places where we belong...
the memories we made along the way there...!”

(We received this saying from a very dear guest who simply fits perfectly at this point! 😉)

The 4 pillars of health

Harmony is the basis of our health. Balancing attention to the following four areas of life, or even the “4 pillars of health”, is helpful for getting started in everyday life in Ayurveda after the treatment.
